About Tikka Nation

Indian street food concept founded by Sumit Jain and Vikas Narula, who opened their debut site in Dorking, Surrey, in July 2020. It now has 11 locations. Jain, who hails from Mumbai, said it is a fast-food venue but selling authentic Indian street food and speciality drinks from the country.

He said: “I was a franchisee with another brand but that went into liquidation, so I needed to start something quickly. The best-selling item here is chicken tikka, so I decided to start Tikka Nation. Chicken tikka masala is a national dish here and everyone recognises tikka as being Indian food.”

In May 2025, Tikka Nation announced plans for its first stores in central London and Scotland - in St Paul’s and Glasgow respectively. Tikka Nation made its Scottish debut in February 2026 with a launch at Livingston Designer Outlet in Livingston, which will be followed by a site in Glasgow.

In May 2026, Tikka Nation came under the banner of new multi-brand franchise group PBV, led by Paolo Peretti. Narula said: “PBV Group has been created with a singular focus - to become one of the UK’s leading multi-brand franchise groups in the QSR space.”

Why franchise with Tikka Nation

  • Franchise consultant Paolo Peretti, who came on board in 2023 to help grow the brand, added: “My old friends at Tikka Nation are now franchising their concept. They are doing something really interesting in terms of their menu, offering a unique twist or concept within the Indian street food market.”
  • Initial franchise fees are £20,000, with total costs in the range of £86,000 to £101,000. Design and project management fees are £3,000-£4,000 depending on site and location, with £60,000-£70,000 on shop fit out and equipment, and £2,000 legal fees. 2023 run rate turnover is between £600,000 and £650,000 for kiosks and £400,000 to £700,000 for restaurants. Franchisees should expect to achieve a gross profit and spend circa 26% of turnover on labour. Royalties are charged at 6% and marketing at 2%.
  • Tikka Nation can pass on any suitable properties or franchisees can look for properties in their target location. An initial £5,000 deposit will hold the chosen territory agreement for six months, after which the agreement can be terminated and deposit returned, minus expenses incurred. The site selection process is expected to take six to eight weeks, and once a unit is found, Tikka Nation will assist with landlord/agent negotiations.
  • The final part of the franchise fee will be paid when the lease is completed and will no longer be refundable at this point. Training for the franchisee and one key staff member will take place in an existing store for three weeks and Birmingham head office for two days, while the store is fitted out.
  • Six weeks’ on-site training will follow, three pre-opening and three post-opening. Further support includes social media handled by the Tikka Nation team; marketing events and materials; activation of click and collect plus delivery platforms; license assistance; refresher training every six months; weekly calls with the operations team and fortnightly visits.
