About Dirty Bones
Dirty Bones was founded in 2014 by friends Cokey Sulkin and Dipak Panchal following several trips to the US, after which they developed an idea for a New York City-inspired food and cocktail concept, opening its debut restaurant in High Street Kensington.
In 2020, it launched a debut site for its vegan concept, Dirty Vegan, in Shoreditch, which has since closed. That same year, it launched delivery brand and kerbside pick-up service Dirty Wings, and in 2021, it launched hip-hop focused speakeasy bar concept Roxanne, also in Shoreditch.
In July 2022, Hero Brands invested in Dirty Bones and began talks regarding new sites. Sulkin said: “Hero Brands’ experience in the franchising space is second to none, and we are excited to share a mutual passion for food, music and fashion.”
In April 2023, Dirty Bones began assessing it options, and in June 2023, half of the six-strong Dirty Bones business was acquired in a pre-pack administration process for circa £600,000. A new company set up by the original shareholders, including Hero Brands and early investors Hard Yards Global, acquired the sites in Soho, Carnaby and Oxford, with the others closed before the administration process began.
Hero Brands said using its extensive franchising knowledge and network, talks will continue with key franchise partners regarding new Dirty Bones locations as there is “still considerable interest in the brand”.
By the summer of 2026, Dirty Bones had only two sites - in London’s Soho and Oxford - but in June launched a further site, in Boxpark Croydon.
