About Mayyil

Owned by Zataro Group, Lebanese street food concept Mayyil was founded in 2022 by Ayman Assi as a sister concept to the two-strong Beit El Zaytoun Lebanese restaurants in west London. In March 2024, Mayyil secured its first domestic and international franchise partners ahead of a planned expansion to 20 UK sites over the following five years. Its first franchise location in Angel, North London, in October 2024, joining its company-owned sites in Knightsbridge and Notting Hill. That same month, the business said it is would soon be expanding internationally with its first overseas location, in the UAE. A third franchise location, in Marylebone, followed in March 2025, and the following month, the company said it is set to open four further locations this year. This will include its first neighbourhood location, in Kingston-upon-Thames. Charlie Mander, group chief operating officer of franchise consultants Presman & Colard, said: “Mayyil is growing from strength to strength, with franchisees now in London and the UAE. This year will see an additional three or four sites opening in the UK and Middle East, with additional interest across UK and Europe. Mayyil has a number of approved territories and locations available for future franchisees.” Assi added: “With more locations on the way, our journey is just beginning.” In June 2025, the brand said it would soon be expanding overseas. Assi posted to social media: “We’re launching in Beirut! Thrilled to announce that Mayyil is opening its first branch in downtown Beirut - bringing the taste of Lebanese street food back to its roots, where it all began. From London to Beirut, fresh off the grill, straight to the heart.” The brand made its overseas debut in September 2025 with a launch in the UAE.
