The Great Greek
A Greek-Armenian family opened the first Great Greek Mediterranean Grill outside Las Vegas in 2011, cooking dishes passed down through generations. Neighbours Nick Della Penna and Trent Jones bought it when the family sold up in 2015 and took over the following year, later partnering with United Franchise Group.
About The Great Greek
The original The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill was opened in 2011, in a small community on the outskirts of Las Vegas, by a Greek-Armenian family, serving family dishes passed down through the generations. When the family put the restaurant up for sale in 2015, it was acquired by neighbours Nick Della Penna and Trent Jones, who took over the running of the restaurant the following year. Having opened second and third locations, the duo decided to partner with the United Franchise Group, and by the end of 2024, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill had more than 70 locations in the US and Canada. In February 2025, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill told Propel it is seeking a master franchisee in the UK as it sees the potential for 400 locations here. Bob Andersen, president of The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, told Propel: “We believe the potential across the UK is to have 400 locations. The brand’s expansion into the UK is already underway as we actively seek a master franchise partner to support this growth. In the UK, our growth will be driven through a master franchise partner, with ongoing corporate support from our global team. This approach combines the strengths of partnering with an experienced UK-based restaurant development and operations partner, while benefiting from the expertise and resources of our global team. The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill is part of United Franchise Group, a recognised leader in the franchising industry with nearly 40 years of experience in supporting entrepreneurs.”
Why franchise with The Great Greek
- The company says: “The quality of our beloved menu sets us apart from the competition, and our partnership with the United Franchise Group ensures that our franchisee support is second to none. We offer industry experience, multiple streams of revenue, and a proven track record. With sufficient background in the industry and a proven operational framework, we make sure you invest in a restaurant franchise that has a good return on investment.” The company will help franchisees find a location, plans construction, get equipment and staff, promote the location and organise a launch date, as well as ongoing corporate support post-launch. The franchise fee is $39,500, with at least $150,000 liquid capital required. Total investment is expected to be between $300,000-$400,000, while a royalty fee of 6% or gross sales revenue is payable a month after launching. This will cover the ongoing resources and support including access to suppliers, marketing and advertising, recruitment and human resources, management support, new developments and our offerings and other services. A comprehensive training programme takes place at the company’s Florida HQ, followed by on-site training, while franchisees will also have access to online training tools, systems and an operations manual. Multi-unit and master franchises are also available, with area developer and master licensee available either initially, or can be added to over time. The company says it offers high profit potential with room to grow, and keeps franchise owners up to date on industry trends in the form of email updates, online training and conferences. It added: “Our franchise model is a great fit for communities that are hungry for a unique restaurant with an unbeatable menu. We have the industry expertise, multiple revenue streams, and a proven track record. We’re in it for the long haul and we work hard to ensure that our franchise owners have what it takes to carry the brand forward. We’re there for you with support throughout the process, and we have opportunities to take your investment even further to leverage our model even more.”
