About Naan Staap
Founded in 2018 by Zohaib Shahnawaz, Naan Staap is a Pakistani theme-based café concept offering stuffed naan, cakes, cookies and desi karak chaah (chai). As of 2026 it has six locations - eight in London plus regional locations in Leicester and Birmingham - and opened its first franchise site, in Gants Hill, in November 2022.
Shahnawaz said: “Since our inception in December 2018 when we opened our first branch, we knew potentially that we had a great new concept business model in the UK. It is based on one very important staple food which was being ignored, i.e. naan bread, along with our famous karak chai. Coupled with the flavours of the west, a unique idea was born. While opening our own stores, our first ever franchisee opened up theirs in Gants Hill in November 2022, the dream we have is now coming into fruition with more to follow, exciting times ahead.”
The company said in 2024 that more than 20 stores/territories have been secured to open over the next three to five years, including 50% occupancy of all outer and inner London, and it is targeting expanding to 50 stores over the next five years.
