About The Real Pizza Company

The Real Pizza Company was founded in West Sussex in 2012 and has grown to seven stores - in Crawley, Copthorne, East Grinstead, Horley, Horsham, Sutton Coldfield and Worthing. The Worthing site, which opened at the end of 2024, was its first franchise location. Its directors are Edward Stacey-Clear, Matthew Fielder and Paul Betchley. A company spokesman said: “We started The Real Pizza Company in 2012 because of our passion for real wood-fired pizza and to bring something better to the market than the generic offerings of our competition. Our first unit was one of the first wood-fired pizza trucks in the UK and proved so popular that we opened our first store in Copthorne, Crawley in 2014 due to the burgeoning demand. Since then, we haven’t looked back. Stores in other locations quickly followed as our loyal customer-base grew. With demand increasing across the country, we recently developed a franchise to allow selective franchisees to replicate our success more easily in other locations with less risk, using our proven model and comprehensively systematised and trained procedures.”

Why franchise with The Real Pizza Company

  • Investment is from £50,000 and third-party financing is available. Training is included and break-even is estimated within 18 months. The company said depending on location and operations, a single store can generate between 18–25% Ebitda, translating to £100,000–£145,000 in annual net profit. “We know this works because in each of our locations we go head-to-head with the clone, conveyor belt, pizza shops and we take sales off them in each location of on average over £11,000 per week,” the company said. “With our clever site selection maximising business potential over a ‘show-case’ locations, we leave maximum room for profit and keep The Real Pizza Company cost overheads amongst the lowest in the sector, with demonstrable EBITDA of 18%-25%. We are looking for people who share our approach and are themselves looking for an opportunity that they are unlikely to find elsewhere; a launch which aims to keep cost under control, extensive in-depth training built in to prepare you for your store, low onward royalty overheads with plenty of support. Our approach to investment is flexible. Opening a store should cost no more than £100,000, and we’ll guide you on where you can save smartly. This investment delivers a fully equipped, efficient, five-star-rated kitchen, primed for excellent return on investment and minimal operational stress.
  • Our proven performance and cost-effective setup model have attracted a wave of new franchisees – ten stores are either open or preparing to open in locations from Birmingham to Tunbridge Wells, Horley to Bangalore in India, Aylesbury to Hove, and Maidstone to Chichester, among others.”
