About The Dice Box

Board game café concept launched by husband-and-wife team Trevor and Stephanie Davies in 2018, in Leamington Spa. An hourly cover charge of £2 per person, per hour, gives customers the flexibility to stay as long as they like. They can choose from a “wide range of refreshments from a high-quality menu” to enjoy while playing and can also purchase board games. A franchise offer was launched in 2021, and The Dice Box said in October 2022 that it would begin its franchise roll out with openings in Peterborough and Worcester. The founders said: “We wanted to create a space where everyone feels welcome. It doesn’t matter whether you have been playing board games for years or you have never played anything. In today’s technology-driven world, there is nothing better than socialising over a board game. Board game cafés are becoming increasingly popular as a nostalgic way to connect with people in a world dominated by social media. It appears people are now trying to reconnect in the real world, and board games have always had a way of doing that, even Monopoly.” The Peterborough store, its franchise debut, opened in December 2022, followed by Worcester in June 2023.
