About Smoky Boys

Founded in 2015 by Sharif Rahman and Hiron Miah, Smoky Boys offers guests a fully halal menu, serving barbecue and grill meat dishes. It has since grown to 11 sites, with further locations “coming soon” in Islington, Bromley, Haymarket, Fleet Street, Hornchurch, Heliport, Pinner, Clapham, Camberwell, Kentish Town, Shoreditch, Tottenham, Chiswick, Liverpool, Deptford, Salford Quays, Manchester Central and Birmingham. The company said: “Our mission has always been to showcase our quality meat and big flavours and demonstrate that if you start with the best ingredients and understand how to cook them, then often the simplest food can be the tastiest! We’ve run successful restaurants for over ten years and we’ve opened more than ten branches and growing.”

Why franchise with Smoky Boys

  • Minimum investment is £100,000 and total investment £120,000, with a £12,000 franchise fee.
  • This will be a standard high street store style set up with all the required equipment. If a franchisee wishes to operate a larger scale store, the company will work closely with them to open for the most cost-effective price and also operate the store at its optimum capacity. Stores average £20,000 revenue per week and there is a potential ROI within 18 months, with an average net profit of 21%. The franchise agreement is 15 years, which is split into three terms of five years. This can be renewed further upon acceptance of both parties. Since launching the franchisee opportunity, the company has been targeting the main cities across the UK, with an initial focus on London. It is now operating a portfolio of units in Castleford, and soon to be within Scotland. It will work closely with the franchisee to open in their area of preference. As soon as a franchisee becomes part of the Smoky Boys family, they will have access to all support, guidance and assistance to source the right location, along with store designers, equipment suppliers and in-depth training sessions prior to launch. While having previous experience in food and beverage is an advantage, the in-depth training programme will take franchisees through all the steps in order to run a successful model. Pre-opening training is up to two weeks of hands-on training. Once the store begins operations, the operations team will provide ongoing training and management support. Franchisees receive the rights to use the Smoky Boys brand name, IP and trademarks; full induction training for them and their staff; potential restaurant premises site evaluation and guidance on franchise territory; promotional support and branded marketing materials to attract potential customers; franchise operations manual; and access to central production facilities.
