About Putt Putt Social
Oriental-themed adventure golf and Asian street food concept co-founded in 2021 by Flip Out co-founder Richard Beese, which opened its first site in January 2022, in Norwich. Elliott Shuttleworth, founder of parent company We Do Play, told Propel: “We’re replicating what we did with Boom - cherry pick the best locations with the best property deals to leverage the natural intrigue created by exciting, destination-led, experiential venues in places with existing night-time economies,” In August 2025, parent company We Do Play received new investment from Fraser Group, with chief executive Richard Beese saying this will allow the business “to sharpen our focus on franchising and scaling our brands globally”.
Why franchise with Putt Putt Social
- Investment amount ranges from £50,000 to £100,000, while venues are typically 10,000 square-foot spaces that consist of 18-54 holes of minigolf, a central bar and a couple of East Asian street food style offerings. The relationship starts by giving franchisees access to prime retail locations, and the practical first step is leveraging strong relationships with all the major landlords in the UK. The company’s covenant strength affords it “tier one site opportunities, to ensure an auspicious starting point”. It will support finance applications (and even provide finance in some cases), help design the venue, build the store and supervise the entire pre-opening marketing process. It will also provide franchisee training, store training and an operational support team once the store is open. The company also works with franchisees to help them source finance and has excellent relationships with high-street banks and alternative lenders. It is also in a position to help finance some of the builds itself. The company currently has Norwich, Telford, Poole, Barnsley and Lancaster either open or in build, and has a further 14 sites currently available across the UK. The company said: “The UK and worldwide market for leisure among the high street has just started to explode, and we are pleased to say that Putt Putt Noodle is at the forefront of this revolution. We are leading the way with new ideas, new concepts and new technology to ensure we carry on spearheading unique developments within the industry, giving an exceptional customer experience along the way. We’re passionate about creating environments that both customers and staff want to experience again and again. Our franchising model has been developed using the experience and knowledge gathered from our other, successful franchises in the leisure industry. We’re extremely proud to have partnered with the best designers, contractors and suppliers in the business, so if you think Putt Putt Noodle might be right for you, you’ll be joining a team that constantly strives to be the best. Our venues seek to offer premium experiences in every way, and we take pride in pairing unparalleled customer experiences with unique, immersive journeys. Our first Putt Putt Noodle franchise opened in Norwich in December 2021, generating more than £100,000 in its first 31 days of trading and has performed above expectations month on month. Potential franchisees will be put in touch with the existing network and given full transparency of all the numbers, should they progress with us. Ideally, prospective franchisees will have had experience in the hospitality/leisure sector before.”
