About Udderlicious

Founded in 2013 by married couple Raj and Rajvinder Kotecha, Udderlicious opened its first store is London’s Islington, and this has been followed by further locations in Covent Garden (2016) and Crouch End (2014). A fourth site was secured in July 2025, in Camden. Raj previously worked at his father’s ice cream shop in Harrow as a teenager, a franchisee with a major ice cream brand. He also previously worked for the British Aviation Authority, while Rajvinder was previously a primary school teacher. “The Udderlicious brand is a celebration of exciting flavours and high-quality ingredients, where every scoop is a truly sensational experience, and this franchise opportunity is designed to be just as irresistible as the range of homemade ice cream,” the company said. “Udderlicious are looking for to share in their success story and bring a little bit of extra joy into the lives of people in towns and cities right across the UK. Just as every scoop you serve will be a truly sensational experience, every day of building your new business will also be an experience you will never forget.”

Why franchise with Udderlicious

  • An Udderlicious franchise offers a simple set up with low overheads. Unlike launching a restaurant, an ice cream store doesn’t require expensive premises, a large staff or complicated kit. Franchisees also don’t need to find a unit which is already zoned for restaurant use by the local authority or pay for zone changing – a simple retail unit will do. No experience is required. Initial training is classroom based for three to five days and includes corporate induction, making and serving ice cream, employing staff, sales and marketing materials, customer service, standards, what is expected and operating a business. Two weeks will then be spent at head office and in an existing store to gain practical experience of day-to-day operations. Ongoing support post opening includes regular calls and meetings, and monthly visits in the first year. The initial fee for becoming partner in the Udderlicious franchise is just £20,000 plus VAT. Included in this fee is the right to trade under the Udderlicious brand; your own exclusive territory; full and comprehensive training in all aspects of running the business; ongoing support from head office; launch marketing and performance reviews; use of all branded materials and marketing; and being part of our continual, national marketing efforts, from website listings to social media. The initial franchise agreement lasts for five years, which is renewable subject to certain criteria being met by the franchisee and in agreement with the franchisor. Estimated total required set-up costs are around £182,000 (exclusive of VAT). There is an ongoing fee of 4% of gross turnover. Based on our current operations, the company said it is confident of a ROI in year two. “As our franchisee, you will be granted exclusive access to your own pre-defined territory in which no other Udderlicious stores will be able to open,” the company said. “The exact size of this area will be calculated using both geographical and demographical information to give your new business the best possible chance of success. We will be looking to help you setup in locations that have the right mix of people to form a strong customer base that you can continue to grow far into the future.”
