About Plant Shack
Plant Shack, the Spain-based, fast casual business, signed its first international agreement in December 2024, followed by opening a first UK site in June 2025, in London’s Shoreditch. The plant-based business, which was founded by Sarah and Lee Brogden in 2019 and currently operates six sites in Spain, partnered with Michael Vosc, an experienced entrepreneur, marketer and investor, to open the first Plant Shack in London. Sarah and Lee Brogden said: “We are excited to bring Plant Shack back to our roots in the UK and continue our mission to make the power of plants more accessible to everyone. We are looking forward to building a Plant Shack London community that thrives on a healthy lifestyle and being positive for the planet.” Alex Innes, commercial director at Plant Shack, added: “We’re thrilled to be expanding beyond Spain and into the UK, a market that has been at the forefront of the plant-based movement. Michael’s passion for entrepreneurship and his expertise in building successful businesses make him the perfect partner to lead Plant Shack’s entry into London.” Vosc said: “Consumers in the UK are showing a growing demand for plant-based options and deserve access to an experience that combines sustainability, health, and fast-casual healthy dining.” Plant Shack said its first London location will include the brand’s signature cold-pressed juice bar along with its menu, featuring superfood smoothies, açaí bowls, wraps and sandwiches, and specialty coffee. In June 2025, Whitney Cyrus, chief executive of Franchise Growth & Development, which is supporting the brand’s global expansion, told Propel: “We’re on track to end 2025 with 20 locations, adding franchise locations in Marbella, Alicante, and Barcelona, and entering a new market with our first franchise in Malta. The pipeline for Spain, the UK, and international markets is robust and growing fast. Looking ahead, we are targeting 30-plus locations by the end of next year and more than 50 locations globally by the end of 2027. The key markets for this growth will be Spain and the UK. My expectation is we could add 20 locations in the UK within three to four years based on the positioning of the brand.”
Why franchise with Plant Shack
- Franchise fee is €25,000, with royalties 6% and marketing 3%. Total start-up costs are €100,000-€150,000 (excluding transfers, licenses and permits). Included within this is location selection and design, branded items, furniture décor, equipment, POS systems, operations manual, staff training, start-up support and marketing and franchise knowledge and support. Two mandatory training sessions are necessary before the opening. The initial training takes place at a facility designated by the company and spans a duration of seven to ten days. The second training is conducted at the franchised site shortly before and during the opening, with opening assistance and lasting between four to 15 days. The company said: “When you join our community, we’re with you every step of the way – from finding the
- right location to the opening day and beyond. Our team offers assistance with construction, engineering and training to ensure your Plant operates smoothly. It’s also not just about the opening; we aim to help you integrate into the community and our marketing support will assist in establishing your presence locally. We’ll keep a close eye on your progress and collaborate with you to make any necessary adjustments, helping you thrive over time. By combining eat-in with takeaway and a strong brand identity,
- we have created a lean business model, with scalability in mind, taking advantage of small spaces, multiple revenue streams and low overheads to maximise margins. Speciality coffee and green juices create daily routines, and the
- grab and go fridge boosts revenue of smaller spaces. Our staff and utility costs are low to protect ourselves against external factors as much as possible, and our model can fit different size spaces, which allows us to adapt to challenges of
- finding available real estate. We avoid many licensing issues within the industry as we don’t
- require a kitchen, and our product is designed to work perfectly for eat in and takeaway/delivery.
