About Origins 1450

Origins 1450, the parent company of Qima Coffee and Qima Café, launched a franchise programme for its Qima Café brand in 2026. Origins 1450, which is an integrated value chain coffee operator with a presence in 11 countries, brought its Qima Café brand to London in September 2022 and it now has two flagship locations here - in Covent Garden and Fitzrovia.

It is now looking to expand and is offering “a limited number of operated franchise opportunities”. The company said its differentiation in a crowded market is a model that “very few - if any - can replicate”. It said: “We operate directly in coffee-producing countries working closely with farmers through our own sourcing and processing operations. We then import, roast and serve that coffee ourselves. This removes layers of intermediation and allows us to maintain direct control over quality, consistency and supply.

“The result is a premium, product-led concept that is both distinctive and operationally efficient, without reliance on complex, labour-intensive food menus. Qima Café is designed for partners who want to invest in a premium café concept without taking on the day-to-day responsibility of running it. We oversee the operational delivery of the business, enabling you to focus on ownership, performance and growth.”

In 2024, Origins 1450 acquired specialty coffee roaster and café group The Gentlemen Baristas out of administration.
