About Mak Halal
‘Next generation’ halal burger and pizza concept founded in Small Heath, Birmingham, in 2016, by Abdulwahab Omar and Ahmed Ben Khayi, Mak Halal has since grown to 13 restaurants, with the most recent opening in Sheffield in December 2024. In October 2022, it introduced a click-and-collect service via its website and app. The company said: “Mak Halal are now expanding, and we have a variety of new franchise opportunities right now in several locations. If you want to join with us as we continue our expansion across the UK, we would like to hear from you.” In October 2024, Mak Halal ramped up its franchise programme after signing with franchise consultant Anthony Round. “We are very much now open for franchising with this great business,” said Round. “I have had the pleasure of working with Abdul on developing the franchise system for Mak Halal over the last year. We have now the legal framework, commercials and support in place. Strong financials, full supply chain and a resonating menu offer.” The business also targeted at least ten new openings in 2025. “For the past few months, we have put the building blocks are in place to support the franchise’s ambitious growth plan,” Round said. “We have revised and improved the franchise agreement, examined the finance and commercials, and for franchise partners who sign up in 2025, we are introducing a fixed royalty payment scheme, which on average turnover, will result in franchisees paying half the royalty compared to the percentage model. This will be for the length of the ten-year agreement, offering substantial savings to the franchisee and giving investors more freedom to drive profitability within their own outlets. There has been great interest from franchise investors so far, with well over 100 enquiries since October. Our goal is to open ten new stores by the end of 2025, with four already in the pipeline, and are inviting applications from new franchisees to support the company’s expansion plans.”
