About Kaspa’s
A chain of dessert houses which offers hot and cold desserts under one roof, Kapsa’s has grown to circa 70 UK sites plus international locations in Pakistan and Morocco, since being founded in 2012 by Azhar Rehman. In December 2022, Kaspa’s told Propel it sees a runway for up to 500 UK sites and is also planning further international expansion, with talks to launch in the UAE and Turkey. Its Cardiff launch at the end of 2022 was a new small-scale takeaway and delivery-only format.
Rehman said: “We used to open in 150-200 square metres, but the market has changed with the delivery side really picking up, so now we’re trying to remodel. With that, we’re anticipating anything from 300-500 stores in the UK through opening smaller stores and kiosks. We will review the progress of these new outlets and see how they prosper, and if they do well, this new model could be something quite positive for us.”
In July 2023, it was revealed that Kent-based Costa franchisee Goldex Investments, which in 2022 become the first UK-based Costa franchise to develop the coffee chain abroad by signing for a site in Marrakesh, will operate Kaspa’s debut site in Morocco, which will be in the same city. As with its Costa operations in the country, Goldex will then take Kaspa’s to Casablanca too.
Its debut site in Morocco opened in May 2024, with more to come. “It was a great experience to attend the long-awaited opening of our store in Morocco,” Rehman. “It hasn’t been easy by any means of imagination with so many challenges along the way, taking us almost a year to get the store open, but I guess this is all part of learning and when you finally get there the feeling is far sweeter. We will be looking to expand with another two sites secured. Looking forward to the expanding the brand further into the Moroccan market.”
In the summer of 2024, Kaspa’s made its central London debut with an opening in Soho’s Dean Street, and in April 2025, Kaspa’s group managing director Francesco Arcadio told Propel diversification of the brand’s model is essential to reaching its 500-store target, and that it is looking to expand into new dayparts. He said: “We have 100 stores, and in ten years we want to be sold in 500 spots in the UK, plus expansion abroad. When I say 500 spots, opening 500 stores like we have today would be very ambitious, but we can differentiate and look at the different ways people can enjoy their desserts. It might be drive-thrus, diners, kiosks or a street food style offering at various events. Product enhancement will probably come through segmentation of the product and daypart specialities. We pay rent 24 hours a day, but our trade is often concentrated in the afternoons and evenings and weekends. As much as possible, we will try to expand into other times of the day.”
In November 2025, Aracdio said Kaspa’s loyalty app, launched two years ago, has seen good traction and helped with the sales growth, and that it has signed new franchisees in the north east and Bristol.
