Gooey was founded in Manchester in 2020 by Jake Ansbro, Sax Arshad and Paddy Brown. Initially operating as a delivery-only bakery during lockdown, the business developed a following for its oversized New York-style cookies and filled doughnuts. It subsequently established a kiosk at Ducie Street Warehouse before opening its first neighbourhood bakery and café in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
